Can you hear the intake of breath in China? Well, don't get so excited. As one analyst points out, "'This doesn't mean the U.S. is now ready to cooperate in defending the island militarily. In this exercise, the Americans will be there to rescue U.S. citizens, not Taiwan.'" Regardless, it is a big step forward for Taiwan.
